Lori Stephenson Grasz is the firstborn child of Nancy and Dean Stephenson, who were both accomplished musicians. Lori’s parents started her music lessons on organ, when she was five years old. Lori continued her music education when she was seven, taking piano and clarinet lessons. She played in grade school and high school concert bands. Lori also marched in her high school band. In 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981 she was honored to play with the University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra. Lori continued her music education, graduating from Black Hawk College in 1983 with an Associate of Arts in Music Education. In 1985 Lori graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Music Education. Lori played bass clarinet with the Palomar Symphony Orchestra and also performed with the Escondido Center Performing Arts Center Choral. Additionally she was a marching instructor for Oceanside High School and Rancho Buena Vista High school. Lori graduated from CSU Long Beach in 2014 with a Master of Arts in Choral Conducting and Instrumental Performance. Presently Lori works with small group clarinets and saxophones at Oceanside High School and provides private lessons in voice, clarinet, saxophone and piano.
