Jacob Valadez is a senior at California Baptist University pursuing a Bachelor’s in Music Education. Currently, he plays clarinet in CBU’s Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Choir and Orchestra, sitting as assistant principal chair in those ensembles. Jacob also played in other ensembles at CBU: the CBU Woodwind Quintet in 2020; the CBU Opera Pit Orchestra for two opera productions of Gonoud’s “Romeo and Juliet” and Donizetti’s “Elixir of Love” in 2022 and 2023; a Jazz Combo in 2023; and the CBU Festival Choir and Orchestra for the Christmas production, “A CBU Christmas” from 2021-2023. He is a clarinet instructor for students from Dr. Augustine Ramirez Intermediate School and Eastvale Elementary, and an Audio/Visual technician for CBU. In 2020, Jacob studied with John Reilly, an orchestra pit instrumentalist, and he currently studies with David Chang, a clarinetist in the Pacific Symphony since 2021. Upon graduation he intends to run a band program full-time where he will teach music and stay involved in performance groups outside of his work.
