Ben Gunnarson

Trumpet

Ben Gunnarson is the Principal Trumpet of the Bay Philharmonic and is a member of the American Youth Symphony and the Disneyland Band. He earned his BM and BME from Indiana University and studied abroad at the IES Institute in Vienna, Austria. Ben has performed with the Tony® and Emmy® winning broadway production “BLAST! The Music of Disney,” as well as the LA Film Conducting Institute Studio Orchestra, California Young Artists Symphony, the Disneyland All-American College Band, Cinematic Brass, the National Brass Ensemble Academy, Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps, the Brevard Music Center Summer Festival, the Disneyland Candlelight Herald Trumpets, and in productions of West Side Story, Dreamgirls, South Pacific, and Cabaret. In 2023, Ben’s trumpet quintet achieved first place at the National Trumpet Competition representing the University of Southern California, where he is currently pursuing his MM in Trumpet Performance. Ben maintains a large private teaching studio and is an active freelancer in LA. Ben currently serves as Vice President and Co-Founder of the Los Angeles Brass Alliance.
